2004-01-11 - 10:43 p.m. Lesson learned All I can say is learned a valuable lesson this weekend... one I won't soon forget. Although this weekend didn't have the outcome I had hoped for....and the lesson I learned wasn't about what I'm about to relay.. I'm choosing to take what I believe is a better road and relate something positive and sweet that happened. Along towards evening, about 5:00 or so, I was sitting in a chair in the atrium, taking a small nap, near the door and the pay telephone... when a little girl that I know only slightly came up to me and very quietly explained that she and her friend would be be playing quietly near me and would I mind very much. I, jerked away and said no, I wouldn't mind at all... then I saw this little stuffed dragon in her hand and she pointed out that it had a small problem... the sewing in the side of the long neck had come undone, and he was starting to lose his "innards". I remembered that I had a needle and thread in my basket and I offered to do "surgery" on her friend (the dragon, not the other little girl with her). I asked her to ask her parents if it was okay and she came back practically dancing. I whipped out my needle and thread and started to sew, with her standing right beside me watching very carefully, offering me constructive help, to make sure "licky" would be good as new. Once I finished my handstitching (see I CAN handstitch, I just hate doing it)... I clipped my thread and the other one still hanging from where the oops occurred and handed her back her little stuffed friend... She reached into somewhere and produced three beads and offered to let me have my pick for fixing her dragon. I told her that they were all too beautiful and I couldn't decide, and I asked her to pick for me. SHe looked at her thre beads and picked out the largest one and handed it to me. I gotta tell you.. that Bethanna is just world's cutest and sweetest little girl there is! Next to baby Taylor.. I think they're running a close race in that department! :-) Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE! |
