2003-06-06 - 6:15 p.m. Have you no decency! I'm over the top ticked off right now. What started out as a good day ended in a really honked off Rhi when we got home. On eht eway home, we stopped at thome depot to pick up paint chips (I'm going to paint the bathroom.. be scared everyone)... and then as we turned the corner, I saw a splatter of mud on our trash cans... that's when I heard Gorm make the announcement "They did it again! They *&^%$%^* took out our mailbox!" The second time in a month. And worse yet, no note. They stopped long enough to try to put it back up (which failed miserably) but did htey bother to leave a note? No! What's wrong with people today? Is there no common courtesy. What would it have cost them? "Look Dude, I took out your mailbox.. I'm really sorry". We weren't expecting them to PAY us, just tell us you acknowledge that you blew our mailbox to smithereens and you spread our mail all over the F'in county... is that too much to ask. We were able to deduce what happened... the road is a small two lane road, and folks tend to whiz by pretty fast... and since there's a curve to to the left and then our mailbox is less than a mile past the turn. If someone takes that curve a little too fast, and someone is coming in the other direction also in bat out of hell mode, they both can't exit in the middle of the road, so someone will try to hug the edge of the road, and BLAMMO, there goes our mailbox. My parents might not have been perfect, but I learned from an early age that if you do something like that, you own up to it. Even if you can't afford it. That's what responsible people do... We acknowledge our mistakes and do our best to make amends. Oh well... life goes on... but the mailbox struck back... we got their mirror! I plan to call Dinwiddie County police and ask if they can place an officer in our driveway to start giving out tickets for these people who are speeding so fast they can't control their vehicles. Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE! |
