2003-02-21 - 2:28 p.m. Painting How do you do it... how do you paint such wonderful (or sometimes sad) pictures with words? How do you know the right word to use to convey just the right meaning? How do you make your words jump off the page coming to life in the imagination of others? Why are they not flat and lifeless? What determines the shape of your writing? What is it about you that brings life to your words, or is it me, breathing life into them for just a short while as I read them and ponder them in my heart. I've always wondered what it was that gives people like Stephen King the gift of storytelling and writing. Anyone can put words on paper (or in a diary); but there are people out there who don't just string words together, they paint. That's the only description I can come up with. I want to paint. There is a fine line between good description and too much description. Everything is a matter of degrees. It's something else to work on, in addition to the rest of what I've got going on. It's not insurmountable, just something "else". I want to paint, and this diary is my canvas. Scary thought, isn't it? Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE! |
