Weaving!

As of 12:03Am 1/18/03 my love's new blue scarf is finished. It's handwoven in a dark blue acrylic and it's the closest to perfect weaving that I've managed to do so far. To say I'm proud of it is an understatement. It sleyed through the reed of my beater with no problems, threading the heddles was a breeze (it's easy when it's only 50 ends wide), tying on the front and back beam went without a hitch. I had no sleying or threading errors; no crossed threads. In short, it went on like melted butter on bread :)

That's the first time that's ever happened. The selvedges are even and the loom wastage was at a minimum. When I first started with my scarf (the multicolored one in the picture) I despaired that I'd ever get my loom warped right the first time. Now it's happened and I'm not really sure what to do with myself.

Here is a picture of the scarves. The multicolored one is mine, and the dark blue one is my love's.

The next project is going to be some placemats and I'm going to try a different weave structure other than plainweave.

Wish me luck!

Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE!

For Matt, come home safe and sound! We miss you!
