Veteran's Day and an Etiquette Question

2002-12-03 - 12:52 p.m.

Tuesday Triflings

Well, the new dog has won round one. He's finally worn me out.

Last night was his last night sharing a spot on the bed. We went to bed at 11:00 last night, and within 30 minutes he tried to chase one of the cats twice, and then once he fell asleep, he managed to stretch himself the entire length of the bed (he's on top of the covers); effectively pinning me to the bed, and cutting off any hope of Honey having any place to sleep. Last night I attempted to move him and got met with a sleep-induced growl. I couldn't budge him and I ended up half slipping off the bed. At 2AM I abandoned any hope of sleeping in the bed and picked up my pillow and went to the living room. I found another of the stashed blankets we have around the house and settled myself on the sofa for a not so long winter's nap. I woke up this morning pretty close to sick to my stomach from lack of sleep and so we've talked it over and after quite a bit of soul searching (not to mention cat searching); Sphygo's new bedroom will be his crate. I don't really like the idea, but I need to get mroe than like 3 hours of sleep a night to function. I want to do what's right for him and for us. He's a member of the family, but we've got too many bodies in, near and around the bed as it is.

To make a long story short, I'm tired, actually I'm way past tired and onto the "I feel like crap" part of the whole situation, so theren's no fighter practice in my future this evening... I want a nice, soft, dogless bed.

Sphygo/Shiloh is doing pretty good with the cat chasing as long as he's on the leash... off the leash he's a little wild thing and an office mate suggested a can of coins or a squirt gun to get his attention and end the chase.

The project I'm working on is coming along nicely, I've gotten some really positive responses about it. I've finished the trim, now all I have to do is come up with a way to cover my body in red, black and gold, and I'll be good to go! My love suggested a dark red cotehardie, a black belt and trim it all up with the gold-dyed cord I made. I think that'll be nifty-peachy keen! Now, to get it all done before the Feast.. that's the challenge.

Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE!

For Matt, come home safe and sound! We miss you!
