2002-07-03 - 10:04 a.m. Pain meds for animals, trip preparation The dog is at the vet's awaiting her teeth cleaning under anesthesia and enjoying her chew toy and towel. I just have one question what moron would NOT want their dog to have pain medication after surgery? I had to sign a form with a bunch of statements. Two of which were about pain medications after surgery. If you care about your PET, why on earth would you want them in PAIN? And why should it COST extra? They DO feel pain. Does your doctor ask you if YOU want something for pain after surgery? Nope, it's a given that you'll hurt and they make it relatively easy on you. I just thought it was the dumbest set of questions I'd ever seen on paper. Of course, it goes without saying that I'll be calling the vet's office later this evening (probably when we get to the airport); to see how she did. I'm a worrier. We're all packed, the suitcases are in the back of the truck (and they're carryon size with WHEELS). I've got a puzzle book and a book to read. We've got some chewing gum for the take off and landings, and I've got all the confirmation numbers for all of the different tickets, hotel room, rental car and whatnots. The other good news is... I went shopping early Sunday morning and bought some shorts and shirts for the trip. Usually, I can't buy anything at Wal Mart because it won't fit me (yes, I'm really that large); but before I packed everything, I tried on the shorts I bought, and they were a little on the too-big size! Which means not only have I lost weight, I've lost a few ugly inches too! YEAY for me! I'm looking forward to the trip to Boston, and while I'm really nervous about meeting the rest of m'love's family, I'm looking forward to a vacation that doesn't include sleeping in a tent and taking a shower "al fresco" to some degree. I mean, ya'll are really nice and swell people, don't misunderstand me, but I still like hotels with pools and bathtubs and showers INSIDE surrounded by REAL walls, not just canvas :) Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE! |
