2002-07-01 - 1:30 p.m. Eilis/Rhiannon I've got a new name that should be through Laurel in a month or so... and by all indications it should pass. I've written about the name here before, but here's a small quandry that only I would think of. Folks know me as Rhiannon, which is fine and wonderful.. There are many Rhiannon's in the world and I would not do anything to cause problems for any of them, Mistress Rhiannon and another Rhiannon I met this weekend are two wonderful examples of incredible Rhiannons. I have a new name that I like better, but how exactly does one go about letting people know about the name change in a non-rude way? Correcting people when they call me Rhiannon seems... well... rude. I've considered sending out "name retirement" emails (and written ones too) to friends and the like; but that seems rather silly. I could post something to the Merry Rose like other folks have, but I don't have the presence they have, and less than 50 people in Atlantia know me. That seems like such a waste of bandwith. My garb isn't a good indicator at the moment, because it's all a mish-mash of time periods and the like, so folks can't do a "well she's wearing late period today, so she's Eilis" sort of thing... maybe I'll find a way to make myself a nametag of sorts. I don't want to be tacky, or rude; so how do I get the message out? Any suggestions? Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE! |
