2002-06-12 - 9:04 a.m. Wednesday--Softball, Books, WW and more Today is Wednesday, and what a Wednesday it's been already. I was up at 6:00 doing laundry, then couldn't get back to sleep, so I decided to try and hunt up my leaf-blade knife (to no avail); that thing hides better than anything I've ever had in my life. We'll have to visit the knife man and get another one when we buy feast knives. I really like that knife. The house is managing to stay in one piece from the Heralds cleaning, the dress is done, although it shows a bit more shoulder than I'd like and I don't think I can change that now, oh well. Tonight, I start working on a small weaving project. We decided to day trip to Highland River instead of camp, so that should make things a bit easier. I'm looking forward to seeing my friends again and learning something new. Highland River Melee's has turned into my once a year learn something new event. That's always nice. Last year, it was the basics of bobbin lace (and I'm happy to report that I've kept at it); this year will be about cotehardies (thank you Theodora!) I wish I had something to teach others. Perhaps some day I'll have a skill others will want. I just have to keep working at it. As for the WW stuff, I got the materials yesterday (Thank you Eadan!) and I've been looking through them (okay, more than just looking through them, I've been avidly reading them like they're the Holy Grail of Weight Loss. We went to a bookstore yesterday before the game and I found a book that lists everything you ever wanted to know about calorie, fat, fiber (and other stuff); for just about every food on the planet. That should help, I hope. I also found a set of books on the Guinevere/Arthur Trilogy (supposedly set after the Lancelot scandal). We shall see how it goes.... the first book IS the Lancelot scandal, and I know that story, so I bought the second book. I'll do a book review when I have a chance to sit down and read it. Speaking of the game, we lost both games again... we had a bit of excitement (I'll let Gorm tell you what happened). Suffice it to say, he's fine, and I didn't do the screaming upset wife. I made my way out to where he was, he walked off the field and he spent the rest of the game on the bench while I kept score and giving him sidelong glances to make sure he was okay. I'm used to seeing him bruised and somewhat battered thanks to the SCA (that *IS* a good thing, right?) so as long as he checked out medically, I wasn't too too worried. He's at work today, so everything is fine. (It really is, Beth, I promise!) I have more medical assessments to complete (on paper, not in person); so I'd better get back to it. Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE! |
