Veteran's Day and an Etiquette Question

2002-05-20 - 9:17 a.m.

Star Wars and etc.

Well, I too gave into the dark side of the force and went to see Star Wars this weekend.

Here are my observations:

1. Dialog was stilted and contrived...

2. The actor that played Anakin needs acting lessons.

3. Padme looks good in a Princess Lei rip-off in the roman arena scene.

4. Is it just me, or did a lot of Padme's costumes look a bit medieval?

5. The "arena" looked like something out of Gladiator only with wasps for people.

6. Padme's homeland looked like something out of "sound of music" I expected to see Julie Andrews singing the title song as she walked over the crest of the hill.

7. Yoda kicks butt! I think that was probably the best part... never EVER mess with a short 800 year old person who knows how to fight, computer generated or puppet, he had a bit of substance, which was nice.

As for the rest of the weekend... I got my baldric made, I made 4 beanbags to hold down windy MOL paperwork, we did the woodworking for Beth's pavilion, we took my sewing machine apart and found out what the broken part is. Kenmore is currently "researching" the part number. If we can get the part, we can fix it ourself. I've got a little bit of sewing left to do on the pavilion and I think our machine can handle it without a problem, so that's a relief. It still sews, just the handwheel tries to work itself back out, which is bad.

Anyone out there know the part number for a Kenmore handwheel?

I also am in the process of getting my MOL box back together and up to date for this weekend.

Thanks to Beth and her stinktoitness, I'm also working on learning more about bobbin lace. I'm fascinated with the bobbins, and I want to make some cool looking lace. That's probably what I'm going to take with me to Sapphire.... but we'll see.

Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE!

For Matt, come home safe and sound! We miss you!
