Veteran's Day and an Etiquette Question

2002-03-12 - 10:00 a.m.

One Week!

Well, as I'm sure you know (if you read my diary yesterday); I turned in my resignation at work yesterday. I leave a week from tomorrow. Things are sorta getting weirder (is that a word) by the minute around the ol' office. I came back from lunch yesterday to a type written letter in my inbox from my boss (his office is next to mine).

The letter was a you of sorts, for my "faithful and loyal service" and a backhanded reminder of things I need to do to separate from the University.

This morning, I got an email from him letting me know that he'll be at a luncheon meeting on my last day so he won't be able to join the staff luncheon sending me on my way.

He's always been a rather warm and caring individual towards me, and this approach on both counts seems rather cold to me. I'm not sure how to take it, or if I should even give it a second thought. *shrug* He's a hard person to read anyways. Part of me wants to say "if I was such a loyal and faithful employee can't you take 5 minutes to wish me well? Ahhh well, such is the expendability of secretarial staff. Wait 5 minutes, another one will be along shortly.

Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE!

For Matt, come home safe and sound! We miss you!
