Veteran's Day and an Etiquette Question

2002-02-23 - 10:19 p.m.

Pavilion Sewing... almost done!

Okay.. it's about 80% done.

We got the entire roof together, all 12 sections. The metal ring is sewed in, the walls and doors are cut out and hemmed. All we have to do tomorrow is to attach the toggles and loops to the doors, doors to the walls and the walls to the roof. Then we do the pockets and stake loops and it's all done!

We even found a way to get around using the chalkline (that darn thing left red gunk all over everywhere, no matter how careful we were, it still doesn't look good). We used an 8' piece of metal, with a 4' extension and a sharpie marker.

We had a few minor issues with the plans, but nothing we weren't able to puzzle out. I did the sewing, I left my Love and Beth to figure out the instructions; so I'm not really sure what the issue was.. something about flipping a pattern pieces for the doors.

Beth came and brought her machine which helped tremenduously. The machine we borrowed didn't work out, so we've been using ours and Beths'. Mine will sew leather, but it's very lightweight.

Other than a few pin-related injuries we're all exhausted but no worse for the wear.

My birthday is Tuesday, so I'm taking off Monday. My tiny serger is supposed to arrive on Monday, so maybe I'll get to play with it for a bit. Nope, it's not a "real" serger, but it's good enough for now. If I get this job, and my sewing machine survives this project (and it will); I intend to take some of the money I'm going to get from my vacation payout and buy myself a REAL serger.. hopefully in a few weeks :) I can wait.. I'm a patient person, no really I am... honest!

Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE!

For Matt, come home safe and sound! We miss you!
