Veteran's Day and an Etiquette Question

2004-03-26 - 6:30 a.m.

Pennsic Camping.. yes I know.. it's only MARCH

I'm tired of looking for things and I'm tired of being un-organized. If I didn't have a demo tomorrow, I'd spend the day nuking and organizing the house. I thought I'd have next weekend, but then I realized we'd committed to something else.

There are days when I really don't like the life I've created for myself.

And oh yeah, unless we get a place to camp that I can deal with, I'm sending Gorm to Pennsic by himself. I refuse to camp with the people we've camped with the last four years (if you remember, one of those people has made my Pennsic absolutely unbearable and ruined my vacation for the past two years, and to be honest, I don't want to go through that again...I don't get much time off as it is, and I want to spend that time in relative peace. If it means I take my vacation within the confines of my lovely home, then I will), and my barony camps too far away from everything for me to consider having a prayer of doing anything other than sitting in camp all week, and while the folks in my barony are super neat and all, I really want to DO stuff.

Yes, I know there are wagons, but every time I've relied on them, I've had problems (like one year, the wagons didn't stat until Wednesday, and during the woods battle, the wagons are diverted to help with fighters and stuff (which is fine, it just puts a massive crimp in how I get around). I wouldn't mind taking a wagon at the start of the day and just hanging out somewhere for the duration, but there's a problem in that the one thing Pennsic lacks are places to sit and watch the world go by.

I've asked the one I'm apprenticed to, and since she's a landed Baroness, she wanted to ask the members of her Barony (which is the correct thing to do). They were supposed to have a meeting the day after we brought up the question and I haven't heard anything yet (I haven't heard from her in a few weeks... I hope everything's okay, she's just busy being Baroness).

So there you have it, I'm beating the rush and worrying about Pennsic early. (I don't have to worry about Sapphire, I know where I'm camping... Long live the Possums!)

Nephew Update>For those two of you who may be wondering.. my oldest nephew who was in the National Guard has been called up to Active duty. He is currently sitting at Ft. Bragg waiting to be deployed to California within the next couple of week, and he will then be sent to Afghanistan for 18 to 24 months. Right now, that's all we know. For the most part, he's a good kid (but he's driving his parents insane right now), a Nationally Registered EMT, and a boy/man with a really good heart. Keep his safety in your thoughts if you don't mind.

Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE!

For Matt, come home safe and sound! We miss you!
