Veteran's Day and an Etiquette Question

Retrospection
Well, I've learned something this week. Evidently I'm not as far along in my me journey as I thought. I've spent the last 24 hours or so in contemplation of an email I received from a very good friend. I don't need to go into the details, but after much retrospection on what he said, I came to the conclusion that he was right about a good many things and those are probably the main parts of me that need the most work.
I didn't really realize until about 4 this morning, how much of a work in progress I really am. I think I'm making progress, but in small steps.
There are days when I get caught up in the it's all about me, and I have to remember that my perceptions of reality aren't always 100% correct, they get cloudy.
Thank you to my friend for finding the words to tell me what I needed to hear, not what I necessarily wanted to hear. I do appreciate the weight of what you said, and I've been thinking on them quite a bit since my reply.
