Veteran's Day and an Etiquette Question

2002-09-03 - 8:26 p.m.

Satellite Modems and Truck Repairs--The end is here.

Okay, I turn my back and decide not to visit diaryland during the day because folks just aren't updating like they used to and WHAM! There are like 8 new entries from friends.

On the truck:

It's fixed, the ignition switch needed to be replaced (thank Goodness for extended service warranties); the engine is tuned and the rental car has been returned.

On Work:

Well, work is work. We're still in the putting out fire stage, and I think we'll be stuck there permanently if not longer. The company split is supposed to happen in about two weeks (the 15th) so we'll see what happens there. I don't want to be the two partners... the fate of 80something people rests on their shoulders and their judgment. I hope they know what they're doing.

On the Satellite modem:

It's here and it's way cool and faster than ever before. We've got new email addresses. Mine is [email protected]; if you want Gorm's ask him :)

I bit the bullet today and invited my sister and her family for Thanksgiving. She keeps saying she's never seen the house because she's never been invited, so I extended the invite. She said she'd check with her husband and kids and see what plans they have (one of my nephews is 19 and the other is 17, so they have lives now... well sorta). My sister increases my anxiety level to notches unknown (as Emeril would say); and I know I'm going to drive Alan and everyone else nuts trying to get everything "just right"; but this is my chance to show her that I'm doing fine and I'm not a screw up. She'll probably still think it (old habits die hard); but at least I know I'll make my best effort. We're already planning the menu... fried turkey as the main course :) Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Okay. The main reason for the entry tonight was to let folks know about the email address and as per usual, I got carried away a bit with my entry.

Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE!

For Matt, come home safe and sound! We miss you!
