Veteran's Day and an Etiquette Question

2002-08-19 - 9:49 a.m.

Back to work

Well, I'm back at work today and on the phones.

We're mostly unpacked and half of the garb is washed. The cats are neurotic and we pick up the dog today.

We're actually talking about the very remote possibility of NOT going to pennsic next year. I doubt it will happen, but it's an idea we're toying with.

Next year, I get to be "camp mom" not to be confused with camp drudge or camp slave. They are not one and the same. Basically, I get a week to sit back and make sure the trains run on time. That's really about it.

I'm not currently looking for information on spinning with a drop spindle. I was going to take a class at Pennsic, but thanks to me being me, it was out of the question. I contacted our lovely and talented baronial A&S person, so we'll see what's going on.

We're already talking about making chairs and a small chirurgeon banner for Seige of Glengarry (i'm going to be the Chirurgeon in Charge for the event--it's in Aethermarc...ya'll come now, ya hear!)..

Before camping season starts up again, we've got two things we want to improve... chairs (all of ours were tossed in the trash as we left Pennsic, they were broken or ready to break); and a real honest to goodness bed. I think we're going to talk to the Dame Badger (or a couple of wood working people in the barony we know) about enlisting her help in making a Viking Slat bed suitable for an air mattress or queen size mattress.

I've decided that cotehardies work for me, so I'm going to be working on more of those.

Saturday is mowing the grass and getting the front porch in order. This Sunday, we have the canton coming over and the following weekend, we have the heralds coming (yep, the whole weekend, just about, we've got around 100 Atlantian heraldic submissions to go over).

Somewhere in the middle of everything, we've got the chairs to either make or figure out a fix for a one day event. I'd really like to have the chairs, but I also don't want to rush the construction.

Tonight we bail out the dog and spend an evening in cuddle with the puppy mode. We both have missed her quite a lot this week.

Please don't forget to answer my survey... it's research for a small business idea... all comments appreciated, no reasonable offer refused!!! It won't take five minutes, I PROMISE!

For Matt, come home safe and sound! We miss you!
